WORLD PREMIERE: Theatre Kiel's Alice

23rd and 28th of April, in German language only

MAY BE REGION LOCKED TO GERMANY. PLEASE CHECK WHEN BUYING TICKETS.

World premiere of a experimental "theatre-film" by Germany's Theatre Kiel.

Very loosely based on Lewis Carroll's famous 1865 novel “Alice in Wonderland”, guest director Anna-Elisabeth Frick and her three-person ensemble have developed a piece that presents the wondrous journey of the child protagonist as a crazy picture arc.

In a quick change from theatrical play scenes, for which designer Martha Pinsker has set up different, kitschy, colorful locations, and film sequences in which Alice wanders through the city of Kiel, the viewer plunges into a surreal world that wears nightmarish features in blue overalls With a red-blonde wig on their head and thick glasses on their noses, Jennifer Böhm, Ellen Dorn and Tiffany Köberich present themselves as three versions of a figure whose streams of thought revolve around the meaning and nonsense of their own existence.

Revival of Eva La gaillenne's 1932 adaptation of both Alice books.

Crash through the looking-glass with Alice on her zany adventure to an upside-down magical dreamland where imagination defies reality and madness makes logic.
